Miscellaneous

A selection of miscellaneous drawings, most from my sketchbooks. My sketchbooks often become repositories of all things bad and good. You’ll find in this gallery Popeye, seeds, pods, figures, zushis (related to Japanese travel shrines), studies, and more. Sometimes ideas will germinate and there will be pages upon pages of riffs on the same concept. Those concepts will sometimes inform the paintings or narrative works. Most of the time, the images are stand-alone. Oftentimes, my sketchbook work is just a horrible mess. But that’s okay. It’s a part of the process that I value greatly, and don’t mind cringing a bit when I run across those clunkers again. The clunkers eventually lead the way to better stuff.
